6 weeks after our first interview, Ben Jackson speaks with LongIslandNY.TV again about updates to the NY Rising program.

NY Rising has changed their program. They no longer require a $2 million umbrella policy for contractors. They are requiring Long Island contractors to have licensing and bonding for jobs over $100,000.
Even though the process has gotten better, money is still moving slowly from NY Rising. People are still suffering. Ben says “I feel terrible for the people out there who need to get home.” “People need to move on with their lives. Let’s get this [Sandy] storm behind us.”
LongIslandTV: Do you get the impression that the program is going to move forward and it is going to rebuild a significant number of people’s homes?
Ben: “Yes, I see a lot of positive things from the [NY Rising] program… they turned things around…they listened to what people said.” Ben says though it may not be 100% perfect, he does see things improving and “I see people receiving checks.” Still, some Long Island homeowners are not sure how to proceed.
Ben says it’s a good thing the Government is giving out NY Rising grants and hopes to see them being given out quicker.
