Recently named president of the Freeport Chamber of Commerce, Ben Jackson cut the ribbon that marked the opening of Freeport’s Nautical Mile. CBS2 News was on hand to report on how the dovetailing of an acceleration in vaccination rates and the opening of the Nautical Mile spell promise to Freeport’s business interests.
To be sure it has been challenging year. Recently the Long Island Association’s chief economist said that roughly 10,000 of Nassau and Suffolk Counties’ 60,000 small downtown businesses have closed in the past year.
CBS2’s Jennifer McLogan spoke with several of the Mile’s business owners about the prospects of the opening as well as the new president of Freeport’s Chamber of Commerce, Ben Jackson.
“It’s not wild and crazy, so it’s very nice. Bring your families down, you’ll enjoy,” said Ben.
We are proud that Ben of Ben’s General Contracting helped host the event and cut the ribbon that marked the opening of Freeport’s world famous Nautical Mile.
